An adjustment is a credit or a charge on your sales channel balance outside an order: a fee credited back, a postage label bought or refunded, a payment dispute fee, an opening balance or a top-up. Each one changes your net proceeds, so the balance matches the channel's. A refund to a buyer is recorded on its order, never here.

- Credit
- Money the channel added to your balance.
- Charge
- Money it took from your balance.
Recording one
Choose Credit or Charge first: the sign follows the type, so the amount is always typed without a minus. Then the category, which says where it lands in the books:
- Selling fees
- A fee charged or credited outside an order, such as a payment dispute fee, comes off or goes back on the selling fees.
- Refunds
- A refund the channel funded itself comes off your refunds.
- Postage labels
- Labels bought from the balance, less any credited back, come off after gross profit, beside expenses.
- Balance adjustments
- An opening balance, a top-up, a loan repayment or eBay holding funds moves the balance alone, never profit. eBay holds a sale's money while a return or a case is open: it reads as Funds on hold, then Funds released when eBay gives it back.
Other asks where it reports. The categories are the sales channel's own, then the ones every channel shares. An opening balance is offered while the store holds none, and your own money going into or out of the business is never an adjustment: that is your drawings.
Common questions
Is a postage label an expense?
A label bought from the channel's balance is an adjustment, since the channel took it from the balance. A label paid by card outside the channel is an expense.
